School Annual Report - 2009

Reverend Fathers, sisters, the president of this August evening function, distinguished chief Guests, Honourable Correspondent, my dear colleagues the teaching and non-teaching staff, Praise-worthy Parents, Students and well wishers.


I am very happy to associate myself with our correspondent in extending a very warm welcome to one and all present here.  In particular, on behalf of the students, staff and the management I extend a hearty welcome to our chief guest  Very Rev.Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai, & Mrs.Kalaiselvi IMS of Thiruvannmalai and Vellore Districts, for having accepted our invitation. Your presence has really graced this occasion. At this juncture, I deem it, as an honour to present a brief report of the activities of our school for the academic year 2009-2010.


The school reopened on 3rd June. Fr. Roy Lazar thanked the former Principal Rev.Sr.Syria Pushpam and Rev.Sr. Borgia for their service and he welcomed the New Principal Sr.Jerlin, Rev.Fr.A.J.Jagadish, the Parish Priest  and Rev.Sr. Louise Marie in a grand manner. On June 5th the inaugural worship was offered by Rev.Fr.Don Bosco and Rev.Fr.Paul Arockiam.


One day seminar on communication skills was offered for the staff by Rev.Sr.Rosy Antony to learn more and improve their communicative skills.         One day workshop for the Maths teachers was conducted by Masters Sekar and David on teaching Methodology.


The classes for XI started on June 17th, the subject teachers were introduced by Rev.Fr. Roy to the students and Rev.Sr. Jerlin welcomed them.

Seminar on “Goal setting” was conducted for XI students by Rev.Fr.Ramesh,              Fr. Xavier, Fr Jegadish, and Fr.Roy. Thus Students learned how to set their goals.


On June 22nd Dr.Karunakaran, from Apollo Hospital declared open the investiture ceremony in which leaders of various houses, SPL and ASPL are given responsibilities to exercise their leadership qualities


The ‘Grow Green Week’ was started on 7th June to create awareness of the protection of the ecology. On that week, Mr. Yasuff Sheriff M.Sc.,M.Phil.,H.O.D of Biology, HOD of the Abdul Hakkim College, started the Rally with 430 Students and 30 teachers to create awareness among Veppoor people. It was concluded with cultural programme.


Under the guidance of Mr.Velliappan M.Phil,M.Ed., the science  seminar class was conducted. Nearly 50 teachers of our school were trained in teaching methodology.


I am happy to inform you all the result of our school for the year 2008 – 2009.
91% in Matriculation and 99% in Higher Secondary. Thanks to the achievers and the dedicated teachers. 


I conclude my report with deep sense of gratitude and appreciation to our correspondent, principal, staff, students and parents.


I pray that the Almighty to bless this institution, a centre of excellence in learning, good character, true knowledge and transforming our children to become “committed citizens for the country and for the Kingdom of God”  Thank you!



2008-2009 are as follows

  • On 25th June 2008, the Silver Jubilee of our beloved Bishop Most Rev. Dr.Soundaraju and the Golden Jubilee of the founder of this school, Very Rev.Fr.P.J.Xavier was celebrated for their dedicated service to God and people. All the Toppers of our school who scored high marks in X & XII were honoured. The Toppers of Veppoor Panchayat and Parish children were also encouraged.
  • On 30th June, Investiture ceremony was celebrated where various leaders like SPL, ASPL, House captains and Sports captain were given responsibilities to exercise their leadership for the betterment of this institution.
  • To create awareness about the ecology, we organized a Grow Green Week from 7th July to 11th July. Various competitions were organized like essay, drawing, speech and painting to highlight the week.
  • On 14th July, Mr.Farook, HOD of English department in Abdul Hakeem College inaugurated the English Association, Tamil Sangam, Maths Club, Science, Computer Club and Fine arts club to encourage the students to expose their talents.
  • On 28th July, 600 Students took part in the Vasistar Acadamy competitions conducted in our school. All got participation certificate in the competition.
  • On 30th July, Students from Std I to IX participated in drawing competition organized by ‘Jeevanadhi’ at state level. Some students won prizes and others got participation certificate.
  • On 6th August, Master Aswin of X std Participated in speech competition on the topic ‘Importance of Non-Violence’ at district level and was selected for State Level which took place in Chennai. He won II Prize. We are proud of our students’ enthusiasim.
  • On 15th August, Very Rev. Fr. P.J. Xavier, the founder of this institution inaugurated and blessed a well equipped science lab with modern facilities that better facilitates practicals of the students.
  • On 22nd August, the memorable Sports Day was celebrated. Mr.K.Manoharan, Additional General Manager [HR & CIVIL] BHEL, Ranipet, was the Chief Guest. Mrs.Lakshmi Manoharan distributed prizes for the winners. The group dances and demonstrations made the campus a colorful one.
  • World Blood Donation day was celebrated on 23rd September. The Blood donation camp was organized by Rotary club at Ranipet. Students were generous in donating their blood.
  • On 14th October Mr.R.Gandhi M.L.A., of Ranipet inaugurated the Sangamam Divine Springs Hall and Rev.Fr.Xavier blessed it.
  • On 16th October, JOPPA, our past pupil association, under the leadership of Mr.AntoFelix and Mr.Joshua conducted the Quiz programme on the current affairs in the field of science, sports, Maths and computer. Students took part actively. This built self-confidence among the students.
  • On 18th October, Science Exhibition was organized on ‘Global warming’. Students prepared models, charts and Album. Working models were exhibited in the Sangamam Hall. Parents and visitors appreciated the efforts of the Students very much.
  • On 14th November, Dr.Chandrasekar, President of Udavum Ullangal was the Chief Guest for the Children’s day celebration. Fancy dress competition and cultural programmes were conducted.
  • On 20th December, we Celebrated Christmas in a grand manner. Rev.Fr.Dennis was the Chief Guest and delivered the message. The Same day we gave farewell to Rev.Fr.Xavier for his service to this institution.
  • On 10th January 2009, Fr.Tony Heer Inter-House Chess Competition was organized in our school. Students from different house took part and won prizes.
  • On 13th January, Muthtamil Vizha was organized by Tamil Sangam. Mrs. Arokiamary, the Head Mistress of Topukana Panchayat Union School was the chief-guest. Mr. Sampath Kumar who got the best teacher award also took part and addressed the gathering.
  • On 24th January, Mr.Hussian, Principal of Abdul Hakeem Engineering College inaugurated the Inter-School Chess Competitions. Students from 24 Schools of Vellore educational district participated. The prizes were distributed to the winners.
  • On 31st January 2009 – Farewell was given to XII Students. On the same day ‘Genesis House of Accountants’ organized a pre-board exam for XII Std in Accountancy. All the XII students participated. The following are the winners.

    Master.V.Gowtham won II nd Place
    Miss.K.Chandrika won IIIrd Place
  • On 2nd February Pre-Public exam was conducted by the Don organization, this helped our students to experience self-confidence to approach the public exam without fear.
  • We celebrated Women’s day for a week from 9th March to 13th March. The status of women was highlighted and students learned to have respect for women and Motherhood.
  • On 19th March, we celebrated the feast of our Patron, St. Joseph. The students offered study materials for the poor and needy children.
  • We had an exposure programme from 1st Std to IX Std. in view of that educational Tour were organized. The children visited the following places.
    I & II -Visited Golden Temple & Vellore fort
    III, IV&V -Visited Ponnai and Navlok Botanical garden.
    VI Std -Visited Aavin Milk diary, Science Park and vellore fort.
    VII Std -Visited Sugar factory
    VIII Std -Visited Amruthi forest and zoo.
    IX Std -Visited Mammallapuram an historical place in chennai.
  • Students participated in Zonal Level Sports and won many prizes.
    In Junior 4x100 mts Relay and Senior 4x100 mts Relay they won 2nd place.
    In Long Jump Prem Shankar got I Place.
    In Short put Dinesh got I Place,
    In 800 mts running Dhanush got 3rd place.
    Seniors 4x400 mts Relay won I st place and 4x100 mts Relay IInd place
    In 100mts running Vivek got II place. & Ejaz got IIIrd Place.
    In Long Jump Vivek got II Place.
    In 800 mts running Surendar got III Place.
    In Polo vault Sathish got III Place.
    Overall our school got 3rd position in zonal level.
  • Tamil Nadu Rural Level Sports was Organised. Various school in our districts participated.
    We are proud that our school was the winner of Football Match.
    In 200mts running Ejaz got Ist Place
    In 100mts running Vivek got IInd Place
    In 100mts running Pandiyan got III rd Place.
    Some students got the participation certificate.
  • In District Divisional Level our student won 4x100 mts relay super senior in IInd Place.
  • 200mts running, Ejaz got IInd Place. In divisional level 4th Place in Relay.
  • Kingston Engineering College organized District Level open Athelthics Meet held at Katpadi.
    In 200mts running Santhosh got I Place
    and 4x100mts Relay he got II Place.
    In 4x400 mts Relay we got II Place
    In 100 mts running Vivek got III Place
    In Senior 4x100 mts Relay our school won I place.
  • We are proud that Master Vivek our sports captain Participated in the District Level Open Athletic Meet in Vellore and won
    I Place in 100 mts running
    II Place in 200 mts running – and
    III Place in Long Jump.
    He won Individual Championship.
    4x100 mts relay was won by St.Joseph Team – I Place.
  • Vivek won state level 100 mts running in 9th position and 200mts running in 5th position conducted for the students all over Tamil Nadu in Tanjore. We wish and pray he may be the future sports man of our country and should be known all over the world.
  • The academic year 2008-2009 has been a wonderful year with rich experiences for all of us in St. Joseph.
  • I am happy to announce that we will continue to strive hard and bring many more honours to the school in the Years to come.
